Prior to Kellogg, Karl received a B.A. from Duke University and an M.D. from the Ohio State University College of Medicine. He was an orthoepedic surgeon at Orthopedic Associates of Zanesville from 1981 to 2021.
Karl graduated from Kellogg in 1996. He founded Saunix Management, where he guided healthcare clients through transitions, mergers, and acquisitions. He served as a director of various public and private corporations, including the Zanesville Surgery Center, Northpointe Surgical Suites, and Unizan Financial Corporation, formerly First National Bank of Zanesville.
In 2019, he founded Saunix Investment Management, an investment advisory firm with offices in New York and Zanesville. He is a board member of Quality Care Partners, an independent organization integrating financial cost-containment strategies for payers, physicians, employers and their employees to reduce overall health-care spend while maintaining high quality and access.
Karl was active with Dean Donald Jacob’s annual Corporate Governance conference at Kellogg. He served on the Board of Directors of The Madeira School in McLean, Virginia, and on the Vestry at Saint Thomas Church in New York. His interests include martial arts, sports and conditioning, and music.
